Episode #39 – Self -Care in Foster Care
In this episode we talk about how we can make healthier choices so that we can be on top of our foster care game!
Ben and I have both decided to give up sugar for awhile. I am not being super strict with it, but no sweets like candy, cookies, or cakes. Ben is a little bit more strict, and much better at not being tempted!
I also want to work on getting back to my pre-baby weight, so I’m hoping cutting out sugar with help me out with that.
Ben wants to be able to increase his awesomeness (although, he is pretty dang awesome) at playing basketball with friends, lifting weights, and just being able to do more things physically.
We think it is super important to find what motivates you and then stick with it.
Here are some tools that we have used in the past or are using now to help aid us in keeping our goals.
Lose It – We like how easy and user friendly this is.
My Fitness Pal – Ben has tried both this and Lose It at the same time for months. He likes it, but likes Lose It better.
Couch to 5K – If you are looking to be a runner, or just looking to start doing s
ome running this is a great app for that. Starts off slow, gets more intense as the weeks go on.
Run Keeper – This can help you keep track of your running and the pace that you are going.
7 Minute Yoga – Our new go to relaxation/stretching in the morning and evening.
We hope that you have enjoyed us sharing what we are planning on doing for our physical selves to be better foster parents in 2016. And we’d love to hear what goals you guys have for this year.
Call to Action:
Find something to work on this year and make a goal or a couple of goals. We’d love to hear what you’re planning on accomplishing this year.
Thanks so much for listening. Stay tuned next week to hear more…
